APTOS — Officials said a 68-year-old Watsonville woman died after her car went down an embankment and crashed onto the picnic area at Seacliff State Beach Saturday morning. According to a release from the California Highway Patrol, the woman was driving a 2018 Toyota RAV4 in a southerly direction on State Park Drive south of Santa Cruz Avenue into Seacliff State Beach at 8:23 a.m. For an unknown reason, the driver drove the vehicle down an embankment and crashed onto the picnic area. The driver sustained major injuries and was transported by ambulance to Dominican Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.
