WATSONVILLE — Like a lot of Holocaust survivors, Gitta Ryle could not talk about her experiences for several decades after World War II ended. The loss of both her father and grandparents at Auschwitz and going into hiding throughout Europe for seven years with her sister, Renee, were very painful for her. However, after undergoing therapy when she was 45, she became more open about it. Now 91, she visits schools, temples and other locations to speak on the importance of ensuring the lessons of the Holocaust are not forgotten, especially among younger generations.
