WATSONVILLE — In 2021, the Watsonville City Council voted to set a goal to significantly reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 as part of its Climate Action and Adaptation Plan. Where the plan currently stands will be presented to the council at its Tuesday meeting. Following increasing concerns over climate change and adoptions of similar plans in other municipalities, the council first tackled a climate action plan in 2015 and six years later officially set a deadline of 2030 in keeping with the Climate-Safe California Campaign's goal of net-negative emissions by that year.
